High-resolution sample barcode images
After we receive an order, we email the barcode to our customer in five different formats (.jpg, .eps, .pdf, .tif, and .bmp). Please download the images below to see which format works best with your graphics programme.
All of the images are standard size for a barcode. However, they can be safely reduced to 80% magnification if necessary.
If your order is automated, you will get sent the images inside a zip folder along with the guarantee certificate. A sample zip folder containing our barcodes can be seen and downloaded below. If you have problems using these, please contact us, and we can arrange other images to be sent to you.
Standard Retail Barcode (EAN)
The above barcode (EAN-13) is the most common type of retail barcode in South Africa. However, if you require a UPC-A barcode, we can provide this for you instead (or as well). EAN-13 barcodes are 13 digits long & they are the European or International Format for barcodes. UPC-A barcodes are 12 digits long and are the American Format for barcodes (UPC-A barcodes are only common in the USA & Canada).

An EAN barcode based on your ISBN (note: If you purchase this barcode, we will send it in two different styles: one with your ISBN printed above the bars and one without).

If you want your book, magazine, or standard EAN barcode to have a price code at the end like the one above, please let us know what price code you need when you place your order. A “5” represents the dollar sign.

Barcode for Magazine (with 2-digit supplement):
The two-digit (or five-digit) supplement number at the end can be changed to represent different issues of the magazine. If you want your barcode to have a 2-digit supplement at the end, please let us know when making your order.
